Monica A. Hemingway, PhD, SPHR
An entrepreneur who started her first business at age 11, Monica founded Periscope Communications to help others realize their entrepreneurial dreams. She spent over 15 years as an Industrial-Organzational Psychologist, holding leadership roles in both Fortune 500 companies (e.g., Procter & Gamble, Dow Chemical, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.) and smaller consultancies (Valtera, The Chauncey Group International). She holds advanced certifications in Human Resources (SPHR) and process improvement (Six Sigma Black Belt), owns an online gardening business, has lived and worked in several countries, and is a regular contributor to conferences, magazines, and scientific journals. Monica earned her Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University, is a member of the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and is an expert advisor with the Human Capital Institute.
John A. Clements, Jr
John has over 15 years experience in Public Relations, Investor Relations, Marketing, and New Business / Product Development in a combination of Fortune 500 companies and small businesses. He specializes in understanding consumer behavior and using that understanding to introduce new products or services, and to increase customer spending. For example, during his six years with ACT Media (the world’s largest in-store advertising company) as Director of Marketing and New Product Development, John developed the ubiquitous in-store coupon machine that we now consider to be a normal part of the grocery shopping experience. His Public Relations work has included major national accounts, such as ABC Consumer Magazines. He has unique insight into the needs of small businesses, having both owned a highly successful small business for over 10 years and worked in commercial finance for small business. John has a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.
Kirsten M. Clark, PHR
With over 18 years as a human resources consultant, Kirsten Clark has honed her skills in a wide variety of HR and change management areas, with a speciality in branding HR tools, processes, and services. In her eight years as Senior Director, Organizational Capability for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., she designed and delivered world class selection, talent management, management development, and culture building tools and processes. Before Starwood she spent nine years with Aon Consulting where she headed up their HR Audit and Policies and Procedures practice, working with clients in both Fortune 500 and small businesses. Kirsten earned her most recent Professional of Human Resources certification in 2009 and studied Business Administration and Fine Art at The University of Connecticut. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and the American Society for Training & Development. She lives on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut with her husband Fred and six year old son Fisher.
